The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Although completely seperate from the Kelso Public Schools, the Foundation works hand-in-hand with the district to help students succeed.
The mission of the Kelso Public Schools Foundation is to fund and give scholarships to further the education of deserving students and graduates; and to fund programs and activities in Kelso Public Schools which benefit a substantial segment of students and for which public resources are insufficient or unavailable.

Starting with just $2,000 awarded in 1992 and $186,850 awarded in 2025, we've awarded over $1.8 million total in scholarships to help Kelso students continue their educations.
The first grant awarded by the Foundation was in 1997 in the amount of $9,600. Since then, over $287,000 has been awarded to fund programs and activities in Kelso Public Schools.
Ruth Clark had a vision centered on providing students with equal opportunity to education, no matter their financial background. The Foundation, which provides thousands of dollars in scholarships each year, was part of her vision.
